At this point, I used the filtering options in the left-hand column to cut down my results while also looking for reputable manufacturers. I selected both Trade Assurance and Verified Supplier.

So what are these exactly?

Trade Assurance: Trade Assurance is a free service offered by Alibaba.com designed to help create trust between buyers and suppliers. It covers buyers on Alibaba.com with 100% payment protection with their selected Trade Assurance suppliers. If the supplier fails to ship the products on time or the product quality does not meet the standards set in the contract, Alibaba.com will refund the covered amount of your payment.

Verified Supplier: A Verified Supplier is a supplier for which certain aspects of the company have been verified by a third-party inspection company. This includes the company’s licensed business status, products, production capacity, process, power, service, and other information. A Verified Supplier status doesn't guarantee quality, but it does indicate that the supplier has been inspected to a certain degree by a third-party.

This process is all new to me so I wanted the least risky option that would protect my small investment. However, even if I ended up losing my money, the idea of getting a quality leather baseball glove for under $100 was really appealing ($99.50, inclusive of shipping to be exact). Once I added in some filters, the results were much more manageable to scroll through.

Product Inquiry

After comparing various products, I decided to inquire about a specific glove from Quanzhou Leago Sporting Goods Co., Ltd. This was the manufacturer that had a picture of the Wilson A2000 Glove. From this screen, I just clicked on the chat now button which opened up a messenger window. One thing to note is the time difference. I would typically get quicker responses during the evening since it was earlier in China.

Once I narrowed down my options, I proceeded to contact Quanzhou Leago Sporting Goods Co., Ltd. A representative quickly responded, and we discussed the order in detail. I shared my requirements, emphasizing the importance of quality, price, and delivery time.


They also asked me standard questions like if I preferred Kip or steerhide, if I had a logo, and any customization to the glove. They told me that they can't produce a glove with Rawlings or Wilson branding since that would be illegal but they could offer me the same quality glove with my own branding. I understood the reasoning so I sent them my logo for Baseball Mode.


I also had them add my last name as well as an American Flag on top of the index finger spot. In order to get the glove to look exactly how I wanted, they told me to use the glove customization feature on the Rawlings website. This way there would be nothing lost in translation over our discussion on messenger. They could see exactly what I wanted the glove to look like.


Their promptness in responding and willingness to answer my questions gave me confidence in the supplier.

So to recap, when I was hunting for the perfect baseball glove, I considered several factors to choose a manufacturer on Alibaba.

Materials Used

When I received my wholesale baseball glove from Alibaba, the first thing I noticed was the quality of the materials used. The product was made from high-quality, durable leather and the baseball glove lacing was fantastic. It felt smooth and sturdy, ensuring that the glove would withstand extensive use. I elected to go with steerhide for this first run since the Kip leather option was a bit more expensive.

Can I Customize The Order?

Before placing my order on Alibaba, I was pleasantly surprised to discover that I could customize certain aspects of the glove. I had the option to choose the color, size, webbing pattern, and even the type of leather used. This level of customization allowed me to get something truly unique at a decent price.


I was originally told that the design that I created on the Rawlings custom site could be done but later found out that certain colors were only available for steerhide leather. Had I elected to go with the Kip leather, it would've been possible to create something similar. For that reason, I elected to go with the blonde leather for the glove with black webbing.

Downside - Glove fit

Since I was only ordering one glove as a sample and didn't want to pay for expedited shipping, the glove took about 3-4 weeks to arrive. When it arrived, I was really excited to see how it turned out. It was packaged nicely with a baseball inside to keep its shape. The glove lacing and customization looked great at first glance, so I honestly thought I had hit a home run.


I did think my Baseball Mode logo was going to be on a patch like Rawlings has above the wrist but it wasn't the end of the world.


Then I tried on the glove. The only downside of this entire experience was the way the glove fit. I ordered a 12.5 baseball glove thinking it would be plenty big enough but I couldn't comfortably put my hand in it. know I have big hands but my fingers fit better in my son's 11.5 glove from Rawlings. The glove lacing was already on the widest hole setting so I couldn't expand the opening.


I think this issue was partly my fault because I didn't communicate any instructions about needing a wider wrist opening. It was a lesson learned so next time I order anything from Alibaba I will clearly list out all criteria.

We just purchased a Rawlings HOH infield glove for my son so this custom glove is being added to his collection and will be used in the outfield. It's a little big for him but he will grow into it. I'm glad it won't go to waste because the quality is actually really good and the interior padding is fantastic.


The glove also came somewhat broken in which was nice since we've been breaking in the HOH for a few weeks now.

Despite the sizing issue, I would say that the wholesale baseball glove I ordered from Alibaba met my expectations in terms of quality, customization options, and performance factors. I was impressed with the materials used and the overall feel and functionality of the glove. Even though I won't be able to use it, I know my son will get some good years out of it while simultaneously promoting our new baseball brand.
